A talk with Natalia Zawadowicz

A few weeks ago i had the opportunity to photograph Natalia Zawadowicz an international fashion model and here are some images from the day and a little background info on Natalia...

*Hey Natalia, please give us some basic information about yourself. Where are you from? Where do/did you go to high school/college? What are some of your main interests and hobbies?

My name is Natalia Zawadowicz. I was born in a beautiful city Gdynia that is situated in North Poland. I have a Bachelor Degree in English and Master Degree in Psychology and Education. Besides modeling I have been teaching English for 5 years. I love to travel, watch movies and I am interested in fashion and psychology

*What's your background in modeling? When and why did you get started? Was it for the glamour? The money? Pure kicks?

It wasn’t absolutely planned. One of my friends was attending photography school and she needed a model for a test shoot. She asked me to help her out so I was like why not, let me try. I was 16 or 17 years old, I m not sure. The pictures came up great so She convinced me to create an account on a polish modeling website and that’s how my journey with modeling has started. I built my portfolio and started getting invitations for the photo shoots and attending castings. After a while I was found on Facebook by amazing hair stylist Charles M’biro from London and I was asked to do the photo shoots for his hair salon. I wouldn’t say it was about money or glamour. I love to travel and meet new people. And it simply makes me happy.

*How would you describe your style? Consider anything and everything from color to historical eras and more.

I am really into dark colors for example black, grey but also white, beige and light pink. However during the summer time I try to add some bright colors like yellow or blue so I wouldn’t look so miserable. Recently I have been crazy about wild animal fabrics such as zebra, snake or panther and flowered dresses. I like classic sort of beauty because it works no matter what the trends are. I think the best word to describe my style would be classy and elegant. Although I have my moments where I like to wear comfortable skinny jeans, t-shirt and trainers.

*Where do you generally shop?

I am not going to lie. I am a big fan of shopping and cross my heart I can actually admit I am addicted to it. I love fashion but I don’t have any favorite shop in particular. Every time I travel abroad I try to look for unique clothes and shoes and jewelry.

*What modelling projects have you done?

I have done many modelling projects such as photo shoots, fashion shows and commercials in Poland, England and France. I have also participated in few music videos. But my biggest achievement would be hair fashion show for Wella. It’s an established hair product brand, known across the world.

*Out of all of the photos taken of you, which is your favorite and why?

It’s really hard to choose because like I said before I have done a lot of projects during 7 years journey in modeling industry and every single ones are quite different. Well, if I had to pick few it would be photo shoots taken in Paris next to Eifel Tower by Amanda Jones. Also I know 2 photographers in London who I love to work the most: Ben Moore and Jermayn Constance. Every time I work with them the pictures always come up great.

*What is fun and rewarding about modeling?

london-fashion-photography

In my opinion modeling is one of the most attractive careers in the world because u get to know people from all over the world and you are able to travel around the globe and discover new countries, cultures and places. It is fantastic because most of the people I have been working with they are my friends till these days. Being a model also exposes you to different life skills such as confidence and good communication skills.
The most amazing thing about modelling is the fact, that every time I have photo shoots they always do the different looks of make up hair and clothes. It’s like being a chameleon… One-day u can be a romantic, blond girl and another time strong and elegant woman.

*What advice do you have for other aspiring models?

I would say to follow their dreams and never give up. One day they might be in right place, at the right time. It’s all about luck.

*How do you prepare for a modeling shoot?

I think it’s more like a life style that u get use to because every day u need to take care of your body and eating habits. I try to keep my diet is as healthy as possible. I eat a lot of proteins, vegetables and fruits also I drink minimum 2 liters of water a day. I try to avoid junk food and sweets but once in a while Ill treat myself. I try to take care of my body, skin, and hair and nails, every single day. I use a lot of products which moisture my skin so its soft and fresh. I always make sure my nails are beautiful and hair looks fresh and shiny.

*How would you describe working with the me?

london-fashion-photography

Your very amusing and positive person, and not only a person I work with but also very good friend. We known each other for about 3 years now. I feel very comfortable working with you and I think your an amazing photographer.

*How has modeling changed other aspects of your life?

I believe I became more open and confident person because before I started modeling I was very shy and quiet. I have learnt not to stereotype people and judge the book by its cover.

*Do you do your own hair and make-up?

I try to keep my make up and hair very simple and natural

*What are some of the main differences between runway and photographic modeling?

I honestly prefer runway. I feel its more exciting; you are the center of the attention. It’s always live and very exciting and makes me more confident. There is always lots of preparation before fashion show but the few seconds u walk on runway are very special for me. Photo shoots are also fun but it’s completely different. There are usually few people in the studio or location such as make up artist, photographer and hair stylist. You don’t get the result straight away

*Describe the atmosphere when you're on a shoot. Do you play music? Do you talk with the photographer between shots?

I am usually very nervous in the beginning of the shoot although I have done it so many times. But after few snaps I become comfortable and try to work it as best as I can. I like to listen to music because it makes me more relaxed.

*Where can see more of you?

My main source is here on Facebook
*Thanks Natalia its been a pleasure as always.

As an artist/photographer, I'm always playing with ideas and concepts on hows to achieve the "Wow" from my Art.

Here is a idea I've been playing with in my mind for sometime, Ive taking what inspires me to create a possible new Creative retouching, editing and photographic Process.

I feel its still a little rough around the edges, however i like the direction I'm going in and thought its time i shared :)

Vikki & Dan: Wedding

Back in November i had the honour to document the day in which Vikki & Dan declared to the heavens that they shall be 2 souls living as 1.

Their such an amazing and down to earth couple who are perfect for each other, with spectacular friends and family who welcome me and made me feel more than just the photographer :)

Here are a few of my favourite images from the day…

I would like to thank Shaleeca Victor for inviting me to second shoot on this awesome occasion.
